Hey, call me Mel. My friends do. I’m a writer, designer, and coach/educator in New York.
Professionally, my work lives at the intersection of creativity and communication, helping people share ideas and connect with their communities with clarity and intention.
I’ve spent over a decade working in communications, PR, and marketing—creating everything from social media strategies to workshop presentations, brand materials, and content toolkits. I care deeply about words, design, and the little details that make information easier to understand.
I am a USA Archery Level 4 coach and instructor trainer in Ithaca, New York. I teach archery to motivated youth and adult learners. I am passionate about developing inclusive and welcoming archery instruction.I also compete in Women’s Senior Barebow division. I have a background in traditional archery, but I can shoot and coach across disciplines, including Compound and Olympic recurve. (More about archery lessons here.)
Outside of work, you’ll find me reading, coaching, hiking with my dogs, or working on a new project—always learning, always making something.
Fun facts
- I live in an Ecovillage. There’s certainly a lot more to say about that, but sustainability and conservation are two important causes I try to support as a lifestyle.
- I’m a USA Archery Level 4 NTS Coach, a RYT200 yoga teacher, and an NASM Certified Personal Trainer… but you probably couldn’t tell from my marshmallow physique. 😁
- I’m a musician. I can play most things with strings rather poorly. My favorite thing to play bad is the lowly autoharp.
- I have a cadre of somewhat useless and/or deadly skills. It’s all research for the novel/s I’m writing.
- My dog has more followers on Instagram than I do. Here’s his feed:
