Work | Curriculum Vitae | Portfolio

In past lives, I’ve worked the freelance beat creating websites, editing books, and writing copy. I’ve penned obituaries, read Tarot cards, cleaned mansions, tended bar, and once, in my wild and reckless youth, I was a professional mime. Some of those stories won’t make it to my resume (but check back later for my memoirs). Now I spend my days helping people get their websites in order, checking in on social media, wrangling docs, writing blogs, and cultivating passionate and empowered communities.

Community Architect | The Theme Foundry

December 2014 to present

As Community Manager, I delegate support for 400k+ users across various channels, including email, free and premium forums, social and chat. This includes technical support and troubleshooting for themes and plugins, as well as customer care and account management.Being the resident wordsmith on the team, I also write and maintain theme documentation, page copy, newsletter marketing and email copy. I manage community engagement through social media, blog, networking events such as WordCamps and WordPress meetup, and reach out to potential partners and evaluate cross-promotional and collaboration potential

Social Media Manager | Warrior One

July 2014 to December 2014
December 2014 to present as a technical advisor

I began working for Warrior One in the summer of 2014 as a social media manager and technical Girl Friday. For six months, I built new social profiles, created and cultivated a new LinkedIn community, and helped market and fill the fall training program using a mix of free and paid social opportunities.

WarriorOne’s best social on Storify

When Warrior One brought on an intern to manage social, I seized the opportunity to pitch a fully redesigned WordPress and e-learning website — which I created using a prebuilt (but heavily customized) theme. The new site launched in January 2015.

While I don’t work on the day-to-day operations of Warrior One anymore, I remain affiliated with the company as the technical lead and advisor. I administer the organization’s Google Apps, and manage Amazon Web Services for the podcast. I’ve also handled site migrations, mitigating DDOS attacks, building custom templates for the theme, implementing, styling and debugging new plugins, eCommerce integrations, etc., and being the person on-call when all the things break.

Line Editor | Musa Publishing

September 2013 to October 2014

During my stint as a contracted line editor with Musa, I found myself on the front-lines of romance/erotica publishing — as the last set of eyes to edit (eight) manuscripts for typos, spelling, grammar, and grievous content errors before going to print.

Freelance Everything | Anything to pay the bills

June 2010 to December 2014

Four four years I was a hustling copywriter and editor, working in any capacity I could on in any niche that would have me. I specialized in editing book proposals, nonfiction, and romance fiction — and contracted through a book firm, as well as a small e-publishers to copy and line edit materials.

As a writer, I’ve worked with clients through Contently.com (notably Weebly.com and Udacity.com), but my other work has appeared in Ravishly.com and Huffington Post.

In my free time, I built simple but bespoke WordPress sites for solopreneurs and very small businesses.
